STEM

The FIRST Lego League (FLL) Robotics curriculum is taught in grades Pre K through sixth. FLL is an engaging, innovative, and all-hands-on program for young learners. This program is taught by Mrs. McGreevy in the school library space. This course is a great start for your child as the Westhampton Beach high school has an amazing competitive robotics team!

FIRST® was founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology. Based in Manchester, NH, the not-for-profit public charity designs accessible, innovative programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math, while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills.

What to Expect

The FIRST LEGO League program introduces STEM to children through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem-solving experience through a guided, global robotics program, helping today’s students and teachers build a better future together. FIRST’s three age-appropriate divisions inspire youth to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding, and design skills through hands-on STEM learning and robotics centered around a yearly theme.

FIRST has completed an external analysis and mapping of all FIRST Programs to 3 sets of educational standards: Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, and 21st Century Learning Skills.

Core values are part of the program and are a method of working with others that builds character and guides students throughout the whole FIRST Lego League experience.

Meet Mrs. McGreevy

Mrs. McGreevy has been teaching at Quogue Elementary School since 2007. She enjoys this engaging STEM program as much as the children!
