Meet Ms. Charos

Hello all and welcome! I had wanted to be a teacher since I was inspired by my very own second grade teacher at the age of 7. I am now fulfilling my dream! I have had the pleasure of teaching at the Quogue School since 1992...... yes that's a long time ago.

In the past, I have been fortunate to have had some wonderful experiences working with children in Primary Special Education classes, Kindergarten, 2nd grade and 5th grade. I am certified to work with children in many areas and hold an AA in Early Childhood Education, a BA in Psychology, as well as certification in Elementary (K-6) and Special Education K-12) and a Masters Degree in Reading K-12.

2nd Graders are naturally resilient, creative amazing beings! To further their success in the classroom, they are regularly encouraged to

Do your best work
Share how you’re feeling
Be in control of your own safety

Home Work

Homework is a very important part of 2nd grade. It serves an an opportunity for practice, reflection and time management. It can include ELA and math review and practice, as well as nightly reading. 2nd graders are highly encouraged to read approximately 100 minutes per week.... even on weekends! We work on a "Tuesday" to "Tuesday" schedule, with homework due on Tuesdays and new homework going home on that day as well. Please be sure your child's "Home School Connection" folder travels back and forth to school with them daily.
