    Dear Kindergarten Parents,

Welcome to Kindergarten!!! I trust that you are all having a wonderful and enjoyable summer relaxing, swimming, and spending time with your family.

I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Stacey Russell and I have been teaching at the Quogue School for the past 20 years: 12 years in Special Education/Reading, and 4 years in Pre-Kindergarten. This will be my 5th year in Kindergarten.  I am very excited about embarking on this wonderful journey with you and your child. I am so lucky to be doing something I absolutely love and I look forward to a successful and enriching year with all my students!

I’d like to tell you a little about myself. I hold a Masters degree in Elementary Education; I am also certified to teach in the field of Special Education and Reading. We live in East Quogue and couldn’t imagine life not near the beach. We have an 8- year-old little girl named Faith who is simply the love of our life. We also have a 3- year-old black Labrador named Hazel. We are definitely busy and having an absolute blast with them. I am an avid reader and love to share great books with my students. I enjoy going to the beach and spending time with my family. I am committed to providing children with learning experiences that foster their cognitive, social and emotional development. I absolutely love teaching and have a fun-filled year planned. I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you.

    Attendance:

Regular and prompt attendance in school is important. It can be very unsettling for a child to arrive late and come into a classroom that is already involved in an activity. We like to start right away.

If your child is absent, you will need to send a written note explaining the reason for your child’s absence when he/she returns to school. You’re also welcome to email me. (srussell@quogueschool.com)  If you arrive late, you must stop at the nurse’s office to sign a late slip.

    Snack:

Please send in a healthy snack each day. We will have an afternoon snack, so please provide an extra labeled afternoon snack.

    Additional:

Your child will receive a home school connection binder that will go home daily with notes, events, homework and anything else that may come up.

I am very excited about our new school year and look forward to making this a great experience for you and your child.  Please feel free to contact me with questions and/or concerns.

                                        Sincerely,

                                              Stacey Russell
