The American Dental Association “Give Kids A Smile Program” (GKAS) provides underserved children with free oral health care services - free dental screenings, cleanings, and fluoride treatments.

This program is offered each February, during National Children's Dental Health Month in Nassau and Suffolk counties.

The Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine hosts a “Back to school event” in its Dental Care Center every August, for children ages 1 - 17. They offer dental screening, cleaning, fluoride treatment & sealants.

INFLUENZA SEASON
- Influenza season has ended in New York State. On May 18th, NYS Department of Health Commissioner James McDonald, MD, MPH, has declared that influenza is no longer prevalent in the state for the 2022-23 season.

RECALLS
Vision and Hearing Screenings

Vision and Hearing screenings will be performed by the School Nurse beginning September 18, 2023, through February 29, 2024. Screenings are for all students in Pre Kindergarten, Kindergarten, Grades 1st, 3rd, 5th, and any new students. A letter will be sent home if your child needs to follow-up with a health care provider. Parents will be notified of all results.
