Kate Moisa

My Name is Kate Moisa and I am so grateful to serve not only as the school psychologist in the Quogue School District, but also as the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) teacher.

It is a great privilege for me to work together with the Quogue community and faculty to help foster and develop the many vital competencies included under the umbrella of social and emotional learning.  My goals are to teach students about self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision making, relationship skills, and social awareness.  It is my belief that by developing a strong competency in these areas, children go on to not only develop a strong sense of self and their values, but also overall mental wellness.

In addition to implementing the Second Step curriculum, we practice several mindfulness techniques; some of which include meditation, mindful coloring, guided imagery, grounding exercises, deep breathing, mindful walks outside, and yoga.

"Intertwining social and emotional learning and academics advances the ability of our students to adapt to change with the essential skills to effectively manage new challenges." - Dr. Karen Burke
