    2020_2021 Breakdown Programs

STEM at Quogue School uses the FIRST Lego Robotics curriculum for students PreK through 6th grade.

FIRST® was founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology. Based in Manchester, NH, the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity designs accessible, innovative programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math, while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills.

FIRST® LEGO® League introduces STEM to children through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem-solving experience through a guided, global robotics program, helping today’s students and teachers build a better future together. FIRST LEGO League’s three age-appropriate divisions inspire youth to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding, and design skills through hands-on STEM learning and robotics centered around a yearly theme.

Education Standards Alignment Maps

  • Education Standards Alignment Maps

FIRST has completed an external analysis and mapping of all FIRST Programs to 3 sets of educational standards: Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, and 21st Century Learning Skills. In an effort to increase the usefulness of the standards alignment maps, they are arranged by program and grade level. Exemplars that describe how and to what extent FIRST programs meet each standard are provided for each indicator/skill in the Common Core State Standards and 21st Century Skills and for each Performance Expectation in the Next Generation Science Standards. Full alignment (clearly addresses a standard) is designated by a green indicator. Partial alignment (the potential to address as part of the program either by actions the coach/mentor takes when working with the students or by conditions established by the program for that given year), is noted by a yellow indicator.
